You know that we are making money online from affiliate marketing and not from Google AdSense or Media.net. In our blueprint page, we have mentioned some affiliate marketing networks that we use here. Main one and our favorite one are ShareASale.
So, the affiliate URLs will look like https://www.shareasale.com/product=xxxid?afftrack=xxxid. Not exactly like this. Kind of this.
For each product, you will need to change the product id. You can see that the URL is not user-friendly and SEO ready. In our case, we have found an all in one solution for managing the issue. The ThirstyAffiliates WordPress plugin!
Why We Use ThirstyAffiliates?
Absolutely for making the URLs user-friendly and tracking link clicks. I mentioned that the URLs will look something like www.example.com/product?ref=xxxrefid. By using ThirstyAffiliates, you could change the URL to something like www.example.com/go/product.
The URL is easy to remember and clean. Also, search engines don’t need to follow those affiliate URLs. In that case, you can simply add a nofollow tag in the plugin settings.
So, search engines will not follow your affiliate link and will not index it in the search results. Also, the redirection, slug etc.
Inserting affiliate link in posts and pages are super easy. You can do it without leaving the editor. In Gutenberg editor, you will face some issues. In that case, you will need to disable Gutenberg editor and use the classic editor.
When you need to add an affiliate link to a specific word, select that word. Here’s how can I add the affiliate link to Bluehost.
In my case, I have selected Bluehost as the word. On the top, you can see a button called ‘Add Affiliate Link’. Simply click on it.
Now, search for the affiliate link. Once you got it, simply click on it.
You have successfully added the affiliate link to the post. It’s pretty simple, isn’t it? Under the plugin settings, you can see an option called reports. There, you can view your affiliate link clicks.
In our blog, we are using the free version plugin at this time. But, planning to use the pro version plugin ASAP. The premium version got an auto linker add-on. It will help you to link specific keywords with an affiliate link. So, maximum profit.
PRO TIP: For adding an affiliate link to a post, you can use the simple keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+K. For adding new affiliate links, use CTRL+SHIFT+K.
