How To Create a Countdown Timer Popup Using OptinMonster?
Now, let’s see how we can create a countdown timer popup using the OptinMonster app.
The very first thing you need to do is, purchase the premium version of OptinMonster. As I mentioned above, you will need to get the Pro plan or Growth plan for creating countdown timer popups. You can use your Credit Card or PayPal account for purchasing the plan.
Once you have purchased any plan, log in to your OptinMonster account. From there, you will be able to create a new campaign.
You will see five types of campaigns there.
- Floating Bar.
In our case, we will be using the floating bar campaign. So, select it. On the next screen, you will see several pre-made templates. In this case, we are going to choose the Countdown template.
You can preview it before using it. If you are good to go, click on the Use Template button.
Name your campaign. Also, you will need to select a website from the dropdown.
While you build a new campaign, make sure that you are saving these things. You will see the save button on the top-right corner.
Now, it is time to make changes to the pre-made template. OptinMonster comes with a drag and drop edit that will help you to build any type of optin form without using a single line of code. By default, the floating bar will be loaded in your website’s footer.
Well, we recommend you changing the optin’s position to the website’s top.
In the Display Settings section, you will see its configuration. Select the option labeled as Load floating bar at Top of Page. And also, the powered by OptinMonster link is enabled by default. You can remove it from there.
Now, let’s modify the countdown timer. Just click on the clock icon which you have on your floating bar. It will show you the Countdown timer settings in the left panel.
Choose the Static type. So when someone lands on your website, they will see the same countdown. Scroll down and you will see the options for entering the event start date, end date, etc.
Whenever you make a change, you can see the updated timer on your live-preview section. We will configure the floating bar as this. Now, let’s modify the optin.
If you need to change the background color of the optin, just select the element.
Choose a background color that will play nicely with your brand colors. Next, we will need to change the text. Clicking on the text will help you to edit it.
Plus, you can modify the submit button.
So when a user enters his/ her email address in the field and signs up for your email list, OptinMonster will show them a success message. From the top menu, you can select the success message option, configure it accordingly.
After changing the discount code, color, everything, our success page will look like:
After that, connect OptinMonster with your email service provider. From the dropdown, choose the email service provider. And from there, you will be able to integrate it.
Here’s an example with the Constant Contact service.
Allow OptinMonster to fetch your account details such as lists, etc.
Once you have successfully integrated the app, you can see all the lists. From the dropdown, choose the list you are planning to use for this optin.
Choose a list and save the optin.
The final thing we need to do is, set display rules. Since we are using this floating bar for a limited time, we need to set display rules accordingly.
On the other hand, if you need to display the popup on any custom pages, that is also possible. All you need to do is, enter the slug of the page, save it.
In our case, we have set the path as the shop. So when a visitor lands on our shop page, the popup will be displayed. We have configured every plugin settings. So, now we can publish the campaign.
The final thing we need to do is, embed the optin on the website. For doing it, you will need to install the OptinMonster API plugin on your site. In your OptinMonster account, you will get an API key for connection. Using it, connect your OptinMonster account. And from the campaigns section, you will be able to enable the optin on your website.
Now, you are good to go. When a visitor lands on your website, the popup will be displayed according to the display rules.
So this is how you can create a countdown timer popup using the OptinMonster app. As you can see, this is pretty simple and even a pure beginner can do it.
